From Classroom to Career: Inspiring the Next Generation of Glassmakers through Ideathlon

Steklarna Hrastnik faced the challenge of engaging young people and educating them about the glassmaking industry and the diverse career opportunities it offers. In a world where many youths are unaware of or overlook the glass industry as a viable career path, it was essential to create an event that was both informative and inspiring.

To tackle this, we developed Ideathlon, a one-day event specifically designed for high school students. The goal of Ideathlon was not only to introduce students to the glassmaking industry but also to give them a deeper understanding of the various career paths available at Steklarna Hrastnik—from production and technology to design, marketing, and management.

The event was crafted to offer students an immersive experience through a series of engaging and interactive workshops that showcased all aspects of the glass industry. Additionally, we organized a hackathon as part of the Ideathlon, providing students with an opportunity to unleash their creativity and innovation. The hackathon aimed to encourage young minds to develop new ideas and solutions that could contribute to the future growth of the glassmaking industry.

Ideathlon allowed students to gain hands-on experience in what it’s like to work in the glass industry, explore different career paths, and develop their creative and innovative skills. Through this event, Steklarna Hrastnik successfully connected with young people, sparking their interest in a potential career in this dynamic field.
